Zynga has today officially launched real money online gambling today, but only in the United Kingdom for now. The new offerings are called ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino and are operated on the bwin.party platform and available to customers via a downloadable client and a web-based application and can be found at ZyngaPlusPoker.
The poker client will feature both cash games and tournaments, and shares the same player pool as the PartyGaming network on which PartyPoker and bwin reside in addition to other poker skins.
The site is offering £15 free upon initial deposit of the same amount. The Casino game will offer Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Video Poker and, for the first time, FarmVille themed slots.
Interesting to note that although Zynga is opening this first in the UK, users can already deposit five different currencies — pounds, dollars, euros, yen and Canadian dollars. The company does plan to extend into further markets where online gambling is regulated and Zynga is permitted, so perhaps it makes sense that it would be turning on that facility now.
“Our long term vision is to offer our players the next generation of real money games on multiple platforms in regulated markets worldwide,” Zynga’s Chief Revenue Officer Barry Cottle posted on the company blog today.
For over a year now, Zynga’s CEO has been talking about moving into real money online gambling in hopes of reviving the company’s stock price which has been slumping. The news has helped raise the company’s stock price which is still far off the 52 week high.
