If you’ve already read Saturday’s results post for Events #1 and #2 of the 2012 Western Canadian Poker Classic at Casino Yellowhead, then you already know that a certain few Canadian circuit players are clearly in ”beast mode” no matter what city they seem to turn up and that trend hasn’t stopped when things bumped up for Event #3, the $2,200 No Limit Hold’em Championship.
Winnipeg’s Zenni Petros bested the field of 75 to claim yet another title and $51,000 in cold hard cash. Petros is definitely of our countries players destined to do things, if you haven’t read our CanadaPoker.com interview with Zenni from last fall you might want to check out his track record so far. This was also his second final table in just 3 events at the 10th Annual WCPC.
We’ve also been keeping an eye on Edmonton’s Jerome (Alemu) Mokonen since he scored two well sought after poker titles over the same week in Vegas; this time around and on his home turf, Mokonen has made 2 final tables in only 3 days totaling more than $12,000 in cashes for the series so far.
Saskatoon’s Michael Smith has been making his fair share of final tables as well; just this past March at the 2012 Regina Station Poker Classic, Smith and Alemu fought it out at the final table of the $800 NLH. Mike is also 2/3 for cashing at the WCPC, after a 7th place finish in the $2,200 Championship here.
The $780 No Limit Hold’em started on Saturday and will run well into the night before a winner is crowned. Early reports indicate at least 140 entries creating a top prize of more than $30,000 to play for.
The last and largest buy-in will also get underway on Sunday, a $5,200 Mixed PLO/Hold’em that could see some decent numbers. Until then, we’ll leave you with these latest results:
