John Racener made $5,545,955 for his 2nd place finish behind Canadian champion Jonathan Duhamel at the WSOP Main Event in November, and just recently the pro from Tampa, Florida made it to the final table at the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classic event in Bellagio where he scored $232,271 for a fourth place finish.
However, outside the felt it hasn’t been smooth sailing. As reported by St. Petersburg Times, Racener was arrested in the early hours of Saturday while driving, and after he had refused blood-alcohol testing he was put in jail with a $1,000 bond for driving under influence, or DUI. His manager confirms the arrest but won’t comment further.
This is Racener’s third DUI charge in five years. On top of that, last year he was charged with misdemeanour battery, so it looks like booze and John don’t go together so well. Also, DUI charges are not the best possible thing to have in your CV when negotiating new sponsorship deals.
Some friendly advice for John, use your new found riches to hire a chauffeur.
