WSOP Bracelet #6! British Columbia’s Calen McNeil Gets it Done!

Calen-McNeil-WSOPIt’s rarely over easy when it comes to winning a World Series of Poker bracelet, as was the case for British Colmbia’s Calen McNeil during Day 4 of the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low Eight or Better; despite resuming heads up play with a 3-1 chip-lead, it would take more than 3 hours to determine a winner.

This on top of the time Calen and “CK” Hua spent battling it out in the late hours of Day 3 in what should have been the final day of play.

Clearly excited about the challenge, @BigWheelMcNeil (Calen McNeil) jokingly made his way back to the felt with, “Morning everyone! What are you all up to today? I think I’m going to go play heads up for $100k!”

Right out of he gate Thursday afternoon, “BigWheelMcNeil” promptly had Hua on the ropes, only to find the worthy adversary bouncing back time and time again over the match, even stealing the chip lead at several points.

“You Are too good….Why are you so good ?” Calen complimented his opponent on several occasions after several big pots, scoops and the second best hands, though he appeared to stayed calm and focused on the goal. Then finally, McNeil got his groove and the momentum back to win the sixth bracelet claimed by a Canadian at the 2013 WSOP, along with more than $277,000.

Calen started Wednesday play a little light on chips sitting 23/24 of what remained of an over 1000 player starting field, but not was certainly not lacking in some confident WSOP bracelet winners behind him as things where grinding along:

@BigRiskky (Scott Clements) “GL @bigwheelmcneil in LO8 final. He taught me everything I know about the game.”

@MattJarvisPoker “Sweating my boy @BigWheelMcNeil who’s chip leading with 8 left at the $1500 O8 WSOP FT with @ashkandoit” (Ashkan Razavi)

Then after the win, along with the congratulations of those friends dearest to him, came the tweets and recognition of his accomplishment from some of our most elite:

@SorelMizzi “@BigWheelMcNeil, well done M8. Waita represent!”

@maxxscam (Chris Back) “Congrats to @BigwheelMcNeil on his bracelet, couldn’t have happened to a better guy! #Inspired”

@MarcAndre_FDwag (Marc-Andre Ladouceur) “Congrats man!”

What of all this from Calen’s point of view however?

@BigwheelMcNeil “So I had a dream, that turned into a thought, which became a mission and is now a reality…#08forlife”

Way to get it done Mr. McNeil, you really are a big deal!
