World Poker Tour Expands with Televised High Roller Series Tour Alpha8

world-poker-tour-wpt-alpha-8The World Poker Tour, famous for producing much of the world’s televised poker content is expanding with a new High Roller poker series named the “Alpha8”. The global series will hit North America, Europe, Asia and South Africa and feature events with at least $100,000 buy-ins.

The series will start with WPT Alpha8 Florida on August 26 at the Seminole Hard Rock Open in Hollywood Florida. The four-hour shows highlighting the action will begin airing at primetime on Fox Sports 1 starting in March 2014.

Tournament structures will be designed by famed WPT Tour Director Matt Savage and Lynn Gilmartin, who will serve as the show’s anchor.

Viewers will be able to watch a live stream of WPT Alpha8 Florida on WPT.com on August 27 and 28 and the final table of the $10 million guaranteed prize pool main event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Recorded episodes of WPT Alpha8 events will air on Sundays at 10 pm ET with in-depth coverage of all the play down to the final table.

    Apparently big name pros are having a rough time wrapping their heads around a 3k rake for a 100k buy-in.
