Fondation-canadiens-de-l'enfance-medPrior to winning the WSOP Main Event Title and prize money, Jonathan Duhamel expressed his intention to donate part of his winnings to charity should he be fortunate enough to win the Main Event and said that he would donate $100,000 to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.

This past Saturday, if any of you watched the hockey game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks in Montreal, you may have gotten a glimpse of the World Poker Champion at the hockey game. With Jonathan’s busy poker schedule, he hasn’t had much time to watch his favourite sport second to poker.

Before the game began, Jonathan presented his generous cheque of $100,000 to the Club President, Pierre Boivin.  He then had the honour of watching the game alongside Mr. Geoff Molson, one of the Molson brothers who are the owners of the Team. Jonathan was featured on the jumbotron screen during the match and received huge applause from the hockey fans in attendance for his generosity.

In a television interview, Jonathan said that he is thrilled to be in his current position and that he is the happiest guy in the world. Thanks to his win, he has the dream opportunity of being able to give back to the community. He considers childrens’ causes as a priority and he is a huge fan of the Montreal Canadiens. The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation was therefore a natural choice for him as a charity.

The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation provides help and support to children in need. Since its inception in August 2000, the Foundation has donated upwards of $10 million to over 400 charitable endeavors form across the province of Quebec who helps underprivileged children.

The Foundation is determined, more than ever, to help offer a brighter future and good health to underprivileged children and is committed to encourage and foster a healthy and active lifestyle among youth.

Thank you Jonathan.
