After an exciting inaugural installment of the Canada Cup online tournament which featured a live final table at the 2012 PCA in the Bahamas, PokerStars has decided to do it all again in 2013!
For those new to what the Canada Cup is all about, it’s a medium stakes event with a $250,000 prize pool for the final nine. The $500+$30 tournament begins online on Saturday November 17th at 19:00 EST and plays down to the last table, where it is then paused to finish out in front of the cameras at the January 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
Players carry whatever chips are in their stacks when the final table bubble pops forward to the live final table where they will play for their share of the prize pool as well as having PCA Main Event seats being awarded to the top 3 finishers to give them a chance to parlay their poker success into much more. Looking at year’s winner and the live PCA Canada Cup I results, David “Dick_Fosbury” Labchuk took in $47,500 + was awarded entry into the $25,000 “High Roller”, however, the slight change in this year’s format to award (3) $10,000 Main Event seats is sure to be even better received.
The final 9 of the Canada Cup II also will also receive travel, accommodations and a bit of spending cash as part of their package, making for a complete poker vacation get-away well worth taking a shot at; qualifiers for the November 17th online Main Event started on October 1st and run as low as $5.50 to play direct qualifiers, though even some free rolls will be available.
According to our 2011 recap and results for the PokerStars Canada Cup I online leg, 63 spots paid out of 412 entries in 2011, so cash prizing is also awarded in the event; not just the final 9 stand a chance of turning some sweet profit!
