Waylon Gibson Wins 2016 SIGA Poker Championship for $38,136



The Dakota Dunes Casino hosted the 2016 Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) Poker Championship from October 1 to October 2. The event drew 364 entries, featuring a buy-in of $600. Waylon Gibson navigated the field to capture the title and a first place prize of $38,136.

At the 2014 SIGA Poker Championship, Waylon Gibson made a deep run but, his hopes faded with a 15th place finish. Gibson returned two years later to finish the job and earn his largest ever live-recorded tournament cash and crush his career earnings total, which was only $1,600, stemming from his 2014 cash.

Gibson entered Day 2 with the chip lead and sat at the top of the field until the very end. Gibson defeated David Anderson heads up to earn the victory. Not only did Gibson earn a big score for his win but to top it off, Gibson also won a seat to the 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas worth USD $10,000.
