Vanessa Selbst Wins PCA $25k Highroller to become Highest Earning Woman in Poker


Vanessa Selbst has had many victories to her credit since making her first major tournament cash in 2006 including two World Series of Poker bracelets, two NAPT main events, and a $1.8 million win at the Partouche Poker Tour main event. Since then, Vanessa continues to be a force to be reckoned with at many major tournaments around the world.

The 28-year old from Brooklyn, New York has just won the 2013 PCA $25k Highroller event #30 and added $1,424,420 to her lifetime career live poker tournament winnings which now sit over the $7 million mark. This win has made her the highest earning woman in poker by putting her ahead of Kathy Liebert with more than $6 million to her name.

Vanessa beat out a field of 199 entries including re-entries that made a prize pool just shy of $5 million.

Notable Canadians that placed in the $25k highroller include Mike Watson Eliminated in 3rd Place ($462,320) and Shawn Buchanan (11th – $89,960).

At the PCA Main Event, Dimitar Danchev of Bulgaria won the title and $1,859,000. Three Canadians finished in the final table  Jonathan Roy (4th – $560,000), Owen Crowe (5th – $435,000), and Yann Dion (7th – $230,000). Some other notable cashes by Canadian players came in Event #35 $1,100 buy-in NLHE six-handed where Evan Parkes (2nd– $25,550),  Jed Derkaoui (5th – $7,760), Richard Wagner (8th – $3,580) all made it in the money. Canadian David Bernstein won PCA Side Event #38 a $300 buy-in NLHE for $5,780. In the same event, fellow Canadian poker players  also made some cashes including Lawrence O’Brien (5th – $1,160), and  Barbara Cooper (8th – $660)
