As poker pros from south of the border desperately seek to find was to get back into the game, relocation to Canada has been the talk by many pros. A few days ago we saw Phil Galfond return to the high stakes tables on PokerStars after he made the move to Canada.

Daniel “jungleman12” Cates recently revealed that he planned to follow Phil Galfond’s example and move to Canada to continue his online poker career. Cates considered staying in Canada for a few months but his plans were met with resistance.

Cates said through Twitter that he was denied access to Canada at the Vancouver airport. Apparently he did not have the correct visa for his stay in Canada.

“In a ridiculous twist, I have been deported from Canada for being an illegal immigrant? Going to Seattle tomorrow to try get a temporary visa,” Cates wrote to his followers some three hours ago.

“Apparently I need a visa to play poker for a living in Canada? What the fuck? Anyone know about immigration laws there?” he further asked.

Cates will have to continue to be patient before making any sort of comeback to the online poker games. The high stakes action these days is found primarily on PokerStars with Full Tilt recently out of the picture.
