According their latest press release, “the PokerStars 10th Anniversary reaches its spectacular climax this coming Sunday, December 18, with two massive events. First up, at 14.30 ET (20.30 CET), is the $215 Sunday Million 10th Anniversary tournament, featuring a $10 million guaranteed prize pool and $2 million guaranteed for first place. One hour later at 15.30 ET (21.30 CET), the 10th Anniversary $10,300 High Roller event get under way, with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.”
This is double the guarantee of it’s record breaking event held in March to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Sunday Million tournaments, with nearly 60,000 players across the globe taking their seats in the $215 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event; this can be taken as a sign that any possible overlays will be crushed, however, at the time of writing (3 hours prior) only about 24,000 have signed up. Given that the USA participated in the spring edition, there just might be extra value in the form of “money added” to meet the guarantee in this one.
As far as the $10,000 High Roller goes, several notable Canadians are already showing up on the players roster; Montreal’s Christopher “d0r1t0s” McClung & Jason “Statusup” Lavallee, Vancouver’s Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky and Toronto’s Pat Pezzin to name a few.
Whether you are participating today, just popping in to cheer on a friend or watching how the Canadian poker “big dogs” do it, it sure to be an exciting day with so much money up for grabs and players across the planet looking to get a piece of it…
