Samuel Chartier of Montreal, Quebec won the $5,000 PLO Event 8-Max at the 2011 Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure. After three days of play, the Quebecer emerged victorious, defeating the famous online poker player Shaun Deeb. The final table consisted also of recent WSOP hall of fame inductee Erik Seidel (3rd place – $46,560), and poker pro Humberto Brenes (6th place – $15,520). The total prize pool was $310,400.
Samuel Chartier was one of 64 players entered in the event. The $99,330 first prize money was up for grabs but when Chartier and Deeb made it to heads-up, they decided to chop the prize money giving a total of $73,000 to each player with Chartier taking the win.
With this win, Samuel Chartier has over $730,000 in live poker winnings. Chartier is probably best known for winning a WSOP circuit event at Ceasars Atlantic City in March of 2009 ($322,944) and for making a final table at EPT Barcelona in September of 2008 ($252,590).
Shaun Deeb from New York, USA is a well known online poker player, an area in which he has collected more than $4 million.
