Renowned Poker Author Lou Krieger Dies


Lou Krieger, a best-selling poker author and columnist has died from cancer. He was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, which reportedly was improving as recently as September.

Krieger published his first book in 1995 entitled Hold’em Excellence: From Beginner to Winner. In 1999, its sequelMore Hold’em Excellence was published. Other books include the best-selling beginners book Poker for Dummies and his latest work Secrets the Pros Won’t Tell You About Winning Hold’em Poker.

Lou learned how to play poker at the age of seven during his father’s weekly poker games at the Krieger’s kitchen table in Brooklyn, NY.

The Casino Journal Magazine named Krieger one of the most influential gaming writers of the past 100 years in 2000. A total of only four other poker authors have earned this honour.

Krieger has held positions as newspaper columnist, editor and radio host.
