Full Player Profile: Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah

While declaring Toronto the “center of the universe” might be an old joke in Canada, money in the poker world certainly gravitates to one of their own.  Ontario native, Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah certainly has as good of an away game as he does playing from home, with an impression record of earning almost $1.5 million on the live felts and another million plus on the virtual ones.  His most recent accomplishments include winning November’s installment of Full Tilt Online Poker Series, Event #24, talking his $200 entry and turning it into $97,797 and over the same month he made three final tables in the Canadian Championships Of Online Poker on Pokerstars! Going back to February of 2010, Mike also placed 5th in the February FTOPS $2500 buy-in Event #22, hauling in his largest single online cash of $110,000in the 2 day event.

Across the globe, Leah has an impressive 54 official live cashes, playing many of the different variations and disciplines of the game, cashing in many of the popular medium and high limit buy events with an impressive eight wins! His largest single live cash came at the Borgata in Atlantic City for his first place finish worth $319,536 back in 2009, the same year he shipped not one, but two Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza events back to back, worth a cool $120,000 a piece.  From there he would go on to win an event at Festa Al Lago Classic to add to his WPT circuit in the money finishes, also having cashed in L.A. Poker Classic, Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Classic, North American Poker Championships and World Poker Final WPT branded events.  On the WSOP circuit, Mike has raked in the dough at the World Series of Poker in multiple events and on the WSOP circuit at Harrah’s Atlantic City & Tunica and Caesar Palace.  If spewing that resume off doesn’t leave you out of breath, just add Foxwoods, winning the Bellagio Cup II and multiple cashes in the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure and NAPT Los Angeles to the list.

On Canadian soil, the player who is mid thirties in age has won major events both at the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino and British Columbia Poker Championships!   Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah is definitely proof that as far as great poker players go, home grown in Toronto, there is more than just Negreanu…
