As part of their Regional Online Poker Championship Series, the PokerStars Canadian Championship of Online Poker has gotten underway this Sunday and will run through to Sunday November 28 with a total guaranteed prize pool of $580,000 for the 11 events but judging from the popularity so far, the actual prize pools are well surpassing the guaranteed.
The following three of the events have been played:
November 21, a $55+5 Rebuy No Limit Hold’em [6-max]. The GTD prize pool for this event was set at $25,000 but actual turnout saw 490 players contributing to a total prize pool of $73,200 and the top 66 places being paid. The top 3 finishers in this event listed by their poker nicknames were 1st place “mahowny777” who won $13,908 2nd place “Bushman” who won $10,248 and in 3rd place “stevejpa” who won $7,503.
November 22, a $215 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. The GTD prize pool for this event was set at $10,000 but actual turnout saw 115 players contributing to a total prize pool of $23,000 and the top 15 places being paid. The top 3 finishers in this event listed by their poker nicknames were 1st place “Theodor Rex” who won $5,750 2nd place “Balog23” who won $3,910 and in 3rd place “20shark” who won $2,990.
November 23, a $215 No Limit Hold’em [2XC, turbo]. The GTD prize pool for this event was set at $40,000 but actual turnout saw 200 players contributing to a total prize pool of $50,200 and the top 27 places being paid. The top 3 finishers in this event listed by their poker nicknames were 1st place “nutrition355” who won $$9,472.47 2nd place “imdman15” who won $9,101.53 and in 3rd place “goleafsgoeh” who won $5,898.50.
This is a Championship where you can compete exclusively against other players from Canada and also get a chance to play against the WSOP Main Event Champion and newest sponsored player of PokerStars Jonathan Duhamel, who will be playing in all of the Canadian COOP events.
