Playground Poker Club $500 & Casino Yellowhead $1000 Results

Christopher "d0r1t0s" McClung

Playground Poker Club in Montreal hosted another of it’s popular Deep-Stack poker tournaments this past Saturday, once again selling out, and taking alternates well beyond it’s original 150 player field cap.

When the last seat was filled, 184 entries made for one healthy prize-pool for the $500 event. Players fought well into the night for their share of the cash, but in the end one player who has certainly been making a name for himself cleaned up yet again;
Christopher “d0r1t0s” McClung claims the top spot, hot off a few decent cashes at the 2011 World Series of Poker and the winner of another $1,500 event hosted in Montreal this spring, where he came first for $71,500.  Between the live and virtual felts “d0r1t0s” is now within 50k of $1,000,000 in confirmed tournament cashes. Chris wasn’t the only one making bank in Montreal this weekend though; here is the list of who made the cash:

Playground Poker Club will be doing it all again soon, so players that want in next time should check out the details for their “NLH Face-off” tournament; on September 11th. This will be a specially designed and unique event that will feature 5 teams of players; each represented by a Professional Hockey Player, an Assistant Captain who will be represented by a Professional Poker Player and the remainder of the team made up by those who choose to claim their seat in the event.

Also playing out on Canadians felts this weekend was the $1,000 buy-in Event #3 at Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton.  The Main Event of the 2nd Annual Klondike Classic drew 112 entries, bringing the series combined prize pools to over $253,000 with one event still to go.  Today will see players compete in the final and fourth tournament, a $300 buy-in to wrap things up. With an hour of alternates and reentry still available, already 113 players had taken a seat, guaranteeing the series will be within 5% of it’s estimated prize-pools.

We’ll have those results tomorrow, but we do already know who cashed in big on Saturday; Eric Zhang, who we are 99.9% sure is also known as Ren Ho Zhang took home the top money of the series, claiming another $34,000 in winnings to add to already very successful year; many may remember the 4th place finisher in the WSOP’s Event #54 just one month ago, worth over $213,000 USD. It seems Zhang is really getting the hang of 1k events.  Roger Simpson also had an impressive showing, with back to back final tables in the $1,000 events hosted by Casino Yellowhead, surpassing his 6th place finish in April with a 3rd place here. The full results who visited the cash cage for this Main Event can be found below.
