Playground Poker Club is celebrating it’s 5th year anniversary with a host of tournaments including its $70+$10 buy-in ($55k GTD), 5-Year Extravaganza NL Hold’em Re-entry that has attracted over 1500 player entries.
5 years and Playground is still Canada’s undisputed and largest poker destination and hosted a $550 Deepstack this past week that drew 103 players with an amassed prize pool of $55k.
After 24 levels of play, in a heads up battle between Alexandre Lavigne versue Pierre André Prevost, with a 6 to 1 chip advantage, in the final hand of play, Pierre André opened to 60,000 from the button with Alexandre firing back with a 350,000 all-in. With a call, both men showed cards with Prevost showing :As :7c vs Lavigne’s :Ah :3s. The flop favoured Lavigne, but when the river card came :Ks :7d, Lavigne’s chances for a comeback were erased and Prevost won the big prize of $12,495.
Lavigne cashed in for $9,450 in second place. Other notable finishers included 3rd place Simon Huard-Dufresne – $7,220, 4th place Jeremie Bilodeau – $5,520, 5th place Rodney Ramalho – $4,220, 6th placePatrice Mailloux – $3,250, 7th place G A – $2,500, 8th place Pierre Cassivi – $1,900, 9th place: Frederic Cossette – $1,400, & 10th place Anesti Kocini – $1,000.
