Phil Hellmuth May Appear on Dancing With the Stars

phil-hellmuth-ub-boxerPhil Hellmuth is already somebody who quenches for spotlight but according to tweets made by pro poker player Phil Hellmuth, it appears that Hellmuth could be a Season 12 competitor on the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars.

With the rumour being started by the tweet “OMG! Phil Hellmuth (me!) on Dancing With the Stars! Outrageous! Might make a fool of myself on national television one more time,” poker blogs instantly began speculating on whether the claims were true.

ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” is entering its 12th season, which is set to hit television airwaves in the beginning of 2011. The series is fresh off crowning actress Jennifer Gray as its 11th champion. Gray’s film credits include “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” and “Dirty Dancing.”

Phil would not be the first player to start on the popular show. Poker playing actress Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie) appeared on the show that lead to her cheating on her boyfriend with dance partner Derek Hough – and Hellmuth did audition for the show last year.

Hellmuth appeared alongside professional dancer Karina Smirnoff in April 2009, so we know that an appearance on ABC’s top-rated reality TV show has been on the cards for awhile, but detractors think the tweet may just be another publicity stunt.

An appearance on Dancing With the Stars would surely give more exposure to, who sponsors the pro. Another pro, Annie Duke appeared on TV reality show last year “The Celebrity Apprentice” where she showed her talents go beyond just poker and made it to the final two contestants, Donald Trump having selected Joan Rivers instead of her in the final decision.
