Poker legend and winner of 13 World Series of Poker bracelets Phil Hellmuth has gifted his latest WSOP bracelet #13 to good friend Chamath Palihapitiva, a former Facebook executive, and current venture capitalist and NBA owner of the Golden State Warriors basketball team.
Hellmuth has given away 11 bracelets to family members and it is the first bracelet he gives to a non-family member. It is safe to assume that he has held on to his WSOP Main Event victory bracelet.
Palihapitiya plays poker and was one of the few that played in the $1 million buy-in, the Big One for One Drop, in 2012.
Both men live in Palo Alto, California.
Letting go of WSOP bracelets, considered a priceless possession, has become a very common thing over the past years. Players in need of money have been known to auction off these coveted and symbolic treasures and have been spotted on Ebay from time to time. Other players prefer to donate the proceeds of the sale of their bracelet to charitable causes.
