A new live-betting poker series called the iSeries LIVE will launch on April 5th and the concept allows poker fans to get in on the poker action as it happens. Viewers will be able to see live hole cards and be able to bet similar to live-betting on sports matches but in this instance to bet on a number of scenarios which include next hand, next elimination, red/black flops and more all in real-time.
The iSeries LIVE will take place in Dublin, Ireland with the first match being a 10-person £10.000 winner-takes-all sit-and-go. People can place bets on Paddy Power which is a large sportsbetting site based in Ireland who are also sponsoring the series.
Many poker pros are confirmed including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, Carlos Mortensen, Maria Ho, Tobias Reinkemeier, Marvin Rettenmaier, James Dempsey, Eoghan O’Dea and Faraz Jaka. All players will have no access to mobile devices or outside influences during the game.
“For poker to continue to grow, the game needs to become more immediate to our fans,” Phil Hellmuth said in a press release.
“By allowing fans to view a poker event as it actually happens, with hole cards exposed, and bet on the action just as they would on football or horse racing, iSeriesLIVE can help take our game to the next level,” he added.
Canadian Daniel Negreanu actually was handed a one-day ban today on the largest online poker forum TwoPlusTwo for allegedly “spamming” about the iSeries LIVE event, where he is one of the main attractions.
It will be interesting to see if this type of concept catches on. We may see more of it and it can be a future turning point to making poker more interesting for viewers.
