More Online Poker Rooms Pull Out of US Market

It was announced on Tuesday that Sportsbook.com and PlayersOnly would stop taking on new US poker players. These two sites operate on the Merge Poker network, which is where the majority of US poker players call home now since having their accounts closed in the wake of Black Friday. Sportsbook.com is a very large US customer facing sportsbetting operating multiple brands and probably don’t like the extra attention that has been coming their way during this period where online poker in the US is under a lot of legal controversy.  Both poker sites combined make up the largest group of US poker players and new sign ups after Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker shut down their US facing business on April 15, 2011.

The shut down will occur effective May 1st and will only affect new players trying to sign up and deposit. All old customers will still be able to play and those who create an account before May 1st. After that date, new US poker players wishing to play on the Merge poker network can still register on Carbon Poker and enjoy the same benefits and security since Sportsbook.com own the poker network since purchasing it last year before migrating their players from the Cake Network.

Canadian poker players can register on Sportsbook.com or CarbonPoker.com and enjoy from the increased liquidity on that network and benefit from special promotion.
