The first annual Montreal Party Poker Classic has taken center stage in exciting Montreal. The charity poker tournament for the benefit of genetic breast cancer research is a huge hit with poker players from Montreal and from across the country.
The scenic backdrop for this event is the classically inspired Windsor Ballroom, reminiscent of a Las Vegas casino.
Players are competing for a share of a prize pool valued at $200,000 that includes 10 seats to the crown jewel of the World Poker Tour, the Five Diamond World Poker Classic set to be held later this year at the world famous Bellagio in Las Vegas. Last year’s Five Diamond World Poker Classic prize pool amounted to over $4 million. Thanks to Party Poker, 10 lucky players will win their $10,000 buy-in entry and a chance to compete with elite poker players from around the world.
Day 1 of the Montreal Party Poker Classic drew a total of 783 entries, clearly positioning it as one of the country’s largest poker tournaments in terms of player participation. Players were allowed rebuys and one add-on which entitles them to a raffle ticket to win a Mercedes. The tournament will play down to 20 finalists who will be flown to Las Vegas in May where they will resume to compete for their share of huge cash prizes and for one of the ten WPT Seats.
People from across the country have been able to be part of the event via a Live Stream broadcast of the feature table by CanadaPoker.com. Canadian poker player and Party Poker Team Pro, the lovely Kara Scott, has been on hand throughout the tournament and one of the players to grace the feature table.
Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers, staff and sponsors and the overwhelming generosity of title sponsor Party Poker, who continue to demonstrate why they are Canada’s favorite online poker room, the Montreal Party Poker Classic is an astounding success.
Proceeds from the tournament and silent auctions will go to the Jodi Taiger Lazarus Fund for Hereditary Breast Cancer Research.
