MicroMillions III Becomes Largest Online Poker Tournament Series Ever

The PokerStars MicroMillions III came to an end on Monday and managed to set a new record for the largest number of entries for a tournament series, beating out the previous record set in March during the first MicroMillions series.

Although PokerStars initially guaranteed $5 million in prize money, the guarantees were easily surpassed with a total of 1,308,994 entries creating a prize pool of $8,276,083 during the 11-day series consisting of 100 low stakes buy-in events.

There were a total of 100,201 entrants in the series that originated from Canada. Canadians won 5 of the events, made 57 tables and had a total of 13,265 cashes amounting to $513,851.62, the ranking fourth worldwide after Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The most entries during a single event surpassed 61,000 simultaneous players during the $22 buy-in main event with a prize pool of $1,221,440 paying $140,062.92 to the winner.
