The Red Shores Racetrack & Casino in Charlottetown, PEI hosted their annual Deep Freeze poker tournament this weekend. The event was sold out with 200 player entries that made up the $60,000 prize pool in addition to $20,000 of bounties paid out for knocking out a fellow player from the tournament.
Out of the 200 starters from Friday and Saturday sessions, 40 returned on Sunday for the Championship session with 20 of them cashing in. The winner of the tournament was Matt Wilkins of Stratford, PEI who took home the top prize of $17,500. He beat Dwayne Shaw of O’Leary, PEI in heads up battle to become the 2016 Deep Freeze champion.
There were 20 winners who shared the main prize pool and many bounties paid along the way which added to the excitement.
It was once again great tournament “à la Red Shores”, the premier poker destination in Atlantic Canada.
