Matt Jarvis has ousted Brad Booth at a COPC heads-up event to move ahead into the quarter-finals of the highly anticipated event. The victory followed Jarvis’ having a crippled a hand, holding Ace 3 versus Booth’s King. A few hands later Jarvis held pocket jacks while Brad had Ace 7. Matt Jarvis decided to go all in at that point while Booth called, giving Matt the win.
In our interview with Matt, he told CanadaPoker.com that while he was ecstatic about his victory against Booth, known to some as a “poker savant”, though he was somewhat disappointed to have knocked out Booth: “It’s always tough to knock one of your good friends out” Matt said. “He played so good too and I’m very fortunate to be moving past him”.
Matt told us he was excited to move forward in the heads-up tournament and he is “looking forward to getting one of those rings”. Jarvis, among other Calgary locals, has been on a hot streak during this COPC tournament: “These guys have been coming from Ontario and stuff expecting to take our money, but it hasn’t been working out so well so far.” Matt said.
