The Jonathan Duhamel University Poker Championship consists of 15 Quebec Universities face off in ten online tournaments. The tournament is sponsored by PokerStars and is a completely FREE poker competition where participants have a chance to win money that they can use towards student bursaries and points that will designate them for the live finals to be held at the end of Match in Montreal.
In addition to close to $20,000 in bursary prize money being distributed amongst the winners, (money deposited in their PokerStars account), the 2011 Grand Prize is unparalleled! The winner of the individual live tournament will receive a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Package worth close to $20,000. This package includes one PCA Main Event buy-in January 2012, flight and accommodation for two persons to the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas and spending money.
How does it work?
There are two ways of qualifying online, both absolutely free:
First way to qualify: Each registered player can participate in all 10 online free tournaments. Students from all universities participate jointly in these tournaments. A $600 prize pool will be given away at each tournament.
Points are also given to players according to their results in these tournaments.
Following these 10 tournaments, the best 6 performances of each player will be added up in order to establish standings. For each university, the top 4 players (those with the most points), will be qualified for the live finals in Montreal.
Second way to qualify: Each player from every university will also have the opportunity to participate in an online 6 players max (per table). Each player will be allowed to participate only in his own intra university tournament.
Each university will have its own tournament. The winner of this tournament will also represent his university at the Live Finals. Each tournament has a $200 prize pool.
The representative of each university will also be part of his/her university team and thus qualified for the Live Finals.
