The May 2nd issue of ESPN Magazine has ranked the best paid athletes in 30 sports for 2010. These top 30 athletes range from baseball to bowling and yes it also includes poker as a sport. The list of 30 top earners combined have amassed $238,536,500 during the year and include only base salaries or prize money and exclude any endorsements and sponsorships. The top earners on the list were New York Yankees 3rd baseman Alex Rodriguez and boxer Manny Pacquiao who each earned $32 million.
Other athletes who surpassed the $20 million mark included Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen and Basketball Star Kobe Bryant.
From Canada, three athletes made the list including NHL hockey players Vincent LeCavalier and Roberto Luongo who each earned $10 million last year. Jonathan Duhamel makes the list under the poker category at number eleven with his $9,443,519 in tournament winnings in 2010, most of it from his WSOP Main Event victory.
