The Foxwoods World Poker Finals, part of the World Poker Tour has started this past week and is running from October 11 to November 2nd. The World Poker Tour Main Event will take center stage on October 28th with a $9,700 + 300.
The $400 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack, the 4th event in the tournament series, took place on Wednesday October 13, 2010 with an impressive 956 players competing for their share of $324,560 in prize money. The prize structure allowed for the top 101 players to cash in.
As is common in many of these tournaments, when the field got down to 3 tables, an agreement was made to split the remaining prize money. However, this chip chop included a whopping 23 players.
John Agelakis from Vancouver took the Top Honours and claimed the Commemorative Leather Jacket, Championship Trophy, and the $12,011 Top Prize after the Final Twenty-Three reached an Agreement.
John travels a lot to play live tournaments. This is his second win in a major tournament series this year after he won a No-Limit Hold’em event at the Canadian Open Poker Championships in Calgary this past summer. Congratulations John!!
Other Canadians who cashed in this event were Melvin Lising of Quebec who finished 18th and won $10,091, and Jean-Guy Roy of New Brunswick who finished 31st and won $1,330.
