“IT’S TIME!” to “Shuffle Up and Deal!” at WPT Montreal

“IT’S TIME!” as Bruce Buffer would say, (just one of the celebrities in the house), as we get set to “Shuffle Up and Deal” at WPT Montreal. Hundreds of players have qualified through satellites and promotions online at PartyPoker and live at Playground Poker Club. Hundreds more have traveled from across Canada, the USA and Europe to “play for it all” in Montreal.

The $3,300 Main Event will see two starting fields contributing to what promises to be a massive prize-pool. Day 1A is starting now, however, players who find themselves looking at the bare felt will have the opportunity to re-enter with those starting on Day 1B.

There have been a lot of players talking about the World Poker Tour’s return to Canada and clearly, most are more than excited to put their money where their months are to compete for a true and recognized No Limit Hold’em Championship title. From the look of the registration roster, it’s going to be one of the toughest fields of players to battle it out on Canadian felts…ever.

With 600 entries already confirmed before game day, that number could  swell to more than 800, potentially making WPT Montreal the single largest single event prize-pool here in Canada in 2012. It’s expected that first place will earn at least $400,000!

It seems that the return of the World Poker Tour to Canada has been very well received by players and they are certainly praising all the action here at Playground Poker Club. We are pretty sure this WPT stop will be here to stay and Playground Poker Club has no plans of slowing down in it’s expansion efforts and offerings to players.

Last night, after 31 rounds of play, we crowned a winner for the $1,100 Playground Poker Fall Classic Event #7 No Limit Hold’em as Buck Ramsay defeated Joshua Abiscott in heads up play. He won $84,000 for besting the 386 player field and claimed the bracelet. Joshua won a cool $50,000 for 2nd place finish.

Thursday’s Event #9, a $100 + $10 re-buy guaranteed two seats into the $3,300 and Event #10, a $330 +$30 another 6, however, that number was exploded with a total of 31 players winning entries. Event #12 tonight at 8:00 PM will be the last of the $360 satellites as players take one more qualifying shot to gain entry into Day 1B.

Players with 100’s of millions in combined poker career earnings are now taking their seats in the massive Playground Poker Club tournament hall  and CanadaPoker.com is here to bring you live updates on all the action as it unfolds!
