It’s Back! 2013 Fallsview Poker Classic Details Announced, January 16 – 21st

The Fallsview Poker Classic is back for 2013! Since its introduction, players from across Canada, scratch that, form across the globe have come from far and wide to play the three  No Limit Hold’em Events that will all be returning in January to build an estimated $2.5 million in combined prize-pools at the Fallsview Casino Resort.

The $1,000 No Limit Hold’em, $2,500 and the $5,000 are all on the schedule once again, with an estimated $500,000, $1,000,000 and $1,000,000 estimates on each event respectively. The 2012 Fallsview Poker Classic drew more than $2,800,000 in pay-outs, while the winners scored as  1st place payouts were $151,558 (Steve Howchin, 1k winner), $308,006 (Nicky Evans, 2.5k winner) and $303,873 (Thomas Middleton , 5k winner).

The 2nd annual FPC, held in January of 2011, Mike “SirWatts” Watson finished runner up to David Quang in the $2,500 for $141,694 while David pocketed $283,387 for the win. Joseph Mandool, who won the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em for $146,140 doesn’t appear to have added any major tournament scores since, nor has Giuseppe Spano, the 2011 Fallsview Poker Classic’s biggest winner with a 1st place finish in the $5,000 worth $312,697. In total, combined prize-pools for the 3 tournaments hit around $2,400,000.

Going back to 2010, Gavin Smith stole the show with a win in the $2,500 event that was good for $188,743 and a 4th place finish for another $43,301.

The final tables of the 2010 Fallsview Poker Classic must have been a good warm up for the World Series of Poker as both Smith and 5th place finisher Aadam Daya went on to win bracelets only a few months later, while the first place finisher of the $5,000 Simon Charette went on to cash 6 times over the 2011 WSOP for better than $400,000 after taking home $270,630 for his win in the main event of the FPC, then Charette followed up with a bracelet win in 2012.

Kai Ngo was the winner of the $1,000 that year, snatching up nearly $82,000 for his win; a top prize that was nearly doubled by the next year’s winner in the same event, giving great testimony that the 4th installment in 2013 could crack $3,000,000 in prizing!

  1. I plan on playing at the Fallsview Classic and I was wondering if Canada Poker will be on site to take photos of the players and share them online as they do at so many other events. Seeing that it’s a big event I would think it a possibility.
