After 2 starting fields and several days of play later, 234 entries creating a total prize-pool of $340,478 has now been whittled down to just 9 players. The final table will resume at 3:30pm today for Day 3 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Main Event, at the Vancouver Edgewater Casino’s 2nd Annual West Coast Poker Championships.
Today’s chip leader to begin play will be Jody Howe of Delta BC, a tough player who’s most recent notable accomplishment on the felts was a 52nd place finish in the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, worth about $160,000. Howe currently sits with 773,000 in tournament chips, roughly 16% of the 4,699,000 reported in play and well above the 522,000 chip average.
Also showing constancy in owning Vancouver main event poker is Afshin Majidi, who finished 7th in last year’s BCPC $2,500 for more than $48,000; though as one of the shorter stacks will need to do some work to improve on that finish here today.
Of course, 2011 WSOP $5,000 Bracelet winner and 2010 WSOP “November Niner” Matt Jarvis is sure to be a crowd favorite today, sitting with above average chips and representing well on his “home turf”.
Good luck to the final 9 today as they battle for the over $90,000 set aside for the top spot; also the largest 1st place prize fought for on Canadian felts in at least the past 6 months. Below are the chip-counts and pay-outs CanadaPoker.com has so far; be sure to check back soon for updates.
