The most prestigious online poker tournament series returns to the virtual felt this fall for the 15th time as PokerStars’ World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is back with 82 events, the most events for any WCOOP, and over $50,000,000 in guaranteed prize money. The three-week festival will take place September 4th through to September 27th.
All eyes will be on the main event, a three-day event, taking place September 25th-27th with a $5,000 buy-in and whopping $10,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. The winner this year is also guaranteed to walk away with at least $1,500,000. ‘Coenaldinho7‘ will look to repeat as WCOOP Main Event Champion when he outlasted a field of 1995 players to win $1.3M and bring home the WCOOP title to Belgium.
Buy-ins range from $109 all the way up to the Super High-Roller which will set a new record for highest online poker tournament buy-in at $102,000.
The series will also feature a couple of players choice event’s where players will get to nominate and then vote for the top nominated game type that they want to see. The WCOOP will also feature a $21,000 High Roller Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) event which will be the biggest online PLO tournament ever.
PokerStars is also rewarding players with a tournament leader board which offers additional prizes including an extra $40,000 worth of prizes to the player who tops the leader board including a champion’s trophy, Bahamas experience, and TCOOP Main Event ticket. Shaun ‘shaundeeb’ Deeb will look to repeat last years WCOOP Player of the Year title, which saw him capture his third overall WCOOP bracelet when he won Event #44, $215 No Limit Hold’em 4-Max event.
Looking back at past WCOOPs, Canada surpassed the USA during the last WCOOP to have the most money won by a country with over $71,000,000. The UK is in third with over $41,000,000.
Canada also ranks second, behind the USA in multiple all-time WCOOP categories including Cashes by country with 15,491, Final Tables with 564, Entrants with 111,505, and Events Won with 71.
