In a press release, Hansen said “I’m very excited to represent the industry’s most authentic poker brand. Full Tilt Poker has the best games, most innovative software and the strongest poker community; to me this feels like coming home.”
Hansen was a former Full Tilt Poker pro, but he was not one of the original pros like Lederer, Ferguson, Ivey and several others most of whom had a stake in the company.
Hansen AKA “The Great Dane” is 38 years old and in addition to having played in nosebleed games online on Full Tilt, he is an accomplished live tournament player with more than $11 million in career winnings including several WPT wins, a WSOPE bracelet, an Aussie Millions win and countless other cashes.
When the site relaunches next month, real-money poker games and tournaments will be offered globally with the exception of the U.S., France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Estonia and Belgium.
You can be sure that Gus Hansen will resume his seat at the high stakes nosebleed games that were very popular on Full Tilt.
It will be interesting to see who else PokerStars hand pick to be on Full Tilt’s roster of brand ambassadors, maybe Patrik Antonius next?
