Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake Quebec put out enough 30,000 chip starting stacks this past weekend for 170 players to take their seats in a 2 Day, $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack tournament; not surprisingly, it turned out to be another sold-out show.
With 45 blind minute levels, it took a few long days at the tables to determine a winner and this time around it was Guillaume Rivet who would end up taking down 1st place and the $42,000 top prize. If the name sounds familiar to you, chances are you were following this years World Series of Poker, where Rivet cashed in 4 events for around $120,000 total, including a 6th place finish in the $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo Championship worth almost $93,000. Guillaume also had one of the deeper runs made by Canadians who participated in the $50,000 Poker Player’s Championship.
Rivet dispatched of runner up Vlad Faubert in heads up play fairly quickly, after beginning the bout with around a 4-1 chip advantage. Vlad has been a top contender at these Playground Poker Club Deep Stack events, finishing 7th in a similar size starting field for the $500 just a few months back and collecting another $30,000 for his finish here.
Levon Dedeyan also made a repeat in-the-money appearance, cashing in this after making a bit of a deal before playing it out and winning the inaugural $1,000 back in March for his share of $36,500.
Congratulations to all of those that made the pay-outs as well as to the management and staff at Playground Poker Club on organizing another very well received event. There are always announcements coming out of the Montreal club being made, (like the 2012 888 SuperStack Series stop) and we are sure it won?t be long until they packing the house with another major event.
Until then, here are the full results:
