Grey Eagle Casino Steps Up Its Game in Calgary’s Competitive Poker Market

Grey-Eagle-CasinoMore chips, more play and more value is the new mantra in the Poker Room at the Grey Eagle Casino in Calgary.  Long known as the most comfortable room in the city to play in, there are now plenty of new reasons for players to flock to the 15 table room.  Effective immediately, management of the facility have taken a bold step to give players what they have been looking for with more chips and longer blind levels in all daily, weekly and monthly tournaments.  Also in response to feedback from players cash games tables will now be played 9 handed and tournaments will be 10 players max apart from tournament scenarios where an event is sold out.

“We know players have a choice in Calgary and we want to do everything they can to make Grey Eagle their room of choice,” commented Assistant Casino Manager Axel Banke.  “We have made decisions we feel players will appreciate and see more value in and are committed to making this the most popular poker room in the marketplace.”

As one of the strongest poker tournament markets in the country, Grey Eagle has also added a new Saturday weekly tournament that is expected to be a strong draw for players.  Every Saturday at noon the Grey Eagle Weekly Challenge will run with a $180 buy in for 17,500 chips and 25 minute levels (including add on).  The Grey Eagle Monthly Challenge, a Canadian Poker Tour sanctioned and CPT Points qualifying events has also stepped up its structure now featuring a healthy 15,000 stack and 30 minute levels for the $330 buy in the first Wednesday of every month.

The Grey Eagle poker room is also pleased to have stepped up its affiliation with the Canadian Poker Tour for 2014 and will be hosting the 2014 CPT Kickoff Series.  This 3 event inaugural event of the new CPT season runs January 22-26th with a $330 buy in Bounty Event with $100 on the head of every participant running the Thursday evening starting at 6pm.  Friday and Saturday host the 2 starting day $550 buy in Main Event with a $60,000 Guaranteed prize pool that is anticipated to draw a large field of both local and Western Canadian players.  The final Sunday is a special World Poker Tour Fallsview Super Satellite with a $200 buy in with $100 rebuys and single/double add on with 2 packages Guaranteed to one of the largest events in Canada.  Each package includes $1000 cash for travel expenses and a $5000 seat in the WPT Main Event with anticipated prize pool of $3,000,000.
