The final results for the 2011 NBC National Heads Up Championship have been determined after 3 grueling days of play for the entrants, Eric Seidel is the 2011 Champion and collects $750,000 for his win in the $25k event.
Jonathan Duhamel had a very respectable semi-final finish worth $125,000. Chris Moneymaker has often been praised as being the Main Event winner that inspired the poker explosion and next generation of players, so maybe we can just chalk his defeat of Duhamel in the final 4 as Jonathan now having his poker hierarchy dues paid in full. Great finish by our champ regardless. Moneymaker also lives up to his name for advancing to the final round against Seidel, collecting $300,000 for his runner up finish in the best of 3 match format held for the final game.
On the way to the title, Erik first had to get through Victory Poker pro Andrew Robl in the semi finals, after Robl had dispatched of tough opponent David Benyamine in the final 8. Benyamine collects $75,000 for his finish, roughly a hand or two at the cash game stakes he is accustomed too. Robl earned $125,000 for making the final 4.
Vanessa Selbst was defeated by Seidel prior to the Eric versus Andrew match. When asked for her thoughts pre-bout, her twitter feed said;”I am pretty much drawing dead since Erik wins every 25k match he plays in.” Vanessa collects $75,000 for a fantastic finish.
Most recently in 2011, Seidel won the 25k “High Roller” at LAPC, the 250k “Super High Roller” at Aussie Millions. With this title under his belt, combined with a few other final tables this year so far brings him up to around 4.3 million dollars in winnings in the first 3 months of the year!
Averaging over a million a month, the man many associate with the classic tape of the WSOP heads up match scene against Johnny Chan from “Rounders”, is “making bank” at an unmatched pace. Last year’s runner up in the NBC Heads Up, Erik can now tick this one off the bucket list.
