Deerfoot Inn & Casino Spring Super Stack Results

0

The inaugural installment of the $1150 Deerfoot Inn & Casino Spring SuperStack wrapped up on Sunday, after players from across Western Canada battled it out over 3 days on the poker felts.

According to Twitter reports from those playing in the field, (as well as final table chip counts), the tournament board showed a total of 85 entries after 4 generous hours of late registration concluded. Players sat down with generous starting stacks of 30,000 tournament chips, with 10 levels of hour long blinds to play on Day 1.

When it came time to halt play until Day 2, thirty-four players found themselves returning Saturday for another 8 levels of play. The money bubble burst before the day was over, as did the final table of 9 players. The average stack gong into the cash was around 35 big blinds (283,000), leaving ample play at 4,000/8,000 with a 500 ante. After players found themselves bagging and tagging once again, just 6 players returned on Sunday to fight for the figure pay-days up top.

Going into Day 3, the remaining short handed final table looked as follows:

Average: ~ 436,333 (~36 Big Blinds)

Total Chips in Play: 2,618,000

Dean Arsenie Regina 651,000 (chips)

Zhi Pan Vancouver 549,000

Sinan Tawfik Calgary 498,000

Pam MacNaughton Red Deer 437,000

Dan White Calgary 380,000

Peter Amic Calgary 103,000

Blinds: 6,000/12,000 Ante: 1,000

If the virtual Facebook rail was any indicator, Red Deer’s Pam MacNaughton seemed to be the crowd favorite; but unfortunately was eliminated just after Calgary local and the short stack; Peter Amic.

Dan White was next to go out in 4th, but things really slowed down for 3 handed play. An eventual deal with struck and Richmond’s Zhi Pan was the next to go. Heads Up play seemed very hard fought, with Sinan Tawfik keeping the bragging rights on home turf after defeating Regina’s Dean Arsenie to claim the win.

Congratulations to all the in the money finishers, they certainly played hard to earn it!
