DeepStacks Poker Tour Headed to Grey Eagle Casino & Bingo Calgary for Canadian Debut!

DeepStacks-Poker-TourPoker players and fans alike will be excited to hear that the DeepStacks Poker Tour will now be adding the Grey Eagle Casino & Bingo in Calgary, Alberta as a partner venue to its growing list of poker tournament stops around the world. While all the fine details are yet to come, it has been officially announced that the poker tournament series will span 9 days, from September 20th-28th, 2014, include a variety of buy-ins, and feature an $1,100 Main Event with multiple starting days and a $100,000 prize-pool guarantee. According to the official press release “this deal marks the first time a U.S. based poker tour has ever put on an event in Alberta.”

The Grey Eagle Casino and Bingo has played host to many poker players and events in the past, something that will only get better with a new hotel expansion scheduled to open later this year, while many will also recognize the DeepStacks logo and brand from its many recognized pro team appearances on television coverage of events around the world and high stakes cash games.

Commitments have been received from poker champions Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, a four time WSOP bracelet winner, high stakes cash game professional & most recent NBC Heads Up Champion, World Series of Poker Europe bracelet winner & online powerhouse Tristan Wade, as well as Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi who’s poker resume includes many of poker’s most prestige titles from across the globe, totalling roughly $14,500,000 in lifetime winnings.

“As DSPT continues to grow internationally, we’ve long desired to expand into Alberta” said DeepStacks CEO Chris Torina on the recent announcement, while Lee Athias, Casino Manager for Grey Eagle Casino & Bingo added “We are always looking for ways and means to raise the tournament bar for our poker players…the opportunity to team with DSPT in hosting the first Canadian event in Calgary will bring tournament play to a new level.” With DeepStacks Poker Tour recently receiving licensing and approval as a vendor from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, the two partners are now poised to do just that, by moving the Alberta poker landscape in a forward direction once again.
