Canadian poker pro Daniel Negreanu had the unfortunate pleasure of becoming the bubble boy in Event # 7, the Pot-Limit Hold’em Championship. The $10,000 buy-in event attracted 249 players for a total prize pool of $2,340,600 and top 27 players get paid with the winner earning $573,456. Negreanu just missed a $20,129 pay day for 27th spot getting eliminated by Jason DeWitt of the USA.
Negreanu had an average chip stack of 176,000 when he called a raise to 20,000 from DeWitt in a blind vs. blind battle. The flop was :3d :7s :4s and the Canadian decided to raise DeWitt’s continuation bet of 20,000 to 60,000, and was called by DeWitt.
The turn was the :9h and DeWitt pushed all-in. Negreanu called for his last 74,000, showing :Ks :3s for small pair and a flush draw. DeWitt had a higher paid with :Ac :4c. The river didn’t help Negreanu who bubbled in 28th place. Owen Crow and Jennifer Tilly of Canada still in the game.
