The Canadian Open Poker Championships kick off today in Calgary and set to run for the next 11 days through August 29th. It promises to be the largest poker tournament series in Canadian history with an estimated $3,500,000 in prize pools. Pre-registrations are above expectations going into the first event. Over 250 already confirmed players from out of Province will be travelling to Calgary to partake in the COPC and many more locals are expected as well.
Well known pros Gavin Smith, Matt Jarvis, Brad Booth, Dennis Phillips, Greg “FBT” Mueller, Shawn Buchanan, Steve Paul Ambrose, and Mike “Timex” McDonald are all expected to attend and more are famous faces are expected.
Lacey Jones, recently voted the hottest girl in poker, who will be playing in a number of events as well hosting the CPT Ladies Open Championship on Sunday Aug 22nd.
Each event winner, in addition to their cash prize, will be receiving a personalized championship ring designed in Calgary by Intergold, known for designing and producing the Stanley Cup and NBA Finals championships rings.
