A number of Canadians have made their way to Germany this week but it’s not for their love of beer. The European Poker Tour is taking place in Berlin from April 16 to 21 and 34 Canadian poker players have made the trip for a shot of € 3,725,000 up for grabs in the main event.
The tournament started with a total of 745 competitors including some notable pros like Barry Greenstein, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Vanessa Selbst and former tennis superstar and PokerStars sponsored athlete Boris Becker who hails from Germany. Canadian pros included Jonathan Duhamel, Sorel Mizzi, Erik Cajelais, Mike McDonald, Matthew Jarvis, Christopher McClung and Xuan Liu all of whom have busted out of the main event.
With 330 players moving advancing to Day 2, there are 13 Canadians still in the running.
The current chip leaders are Cengiz Ulusu from Turkey (242,800 chips), Calvin Anderson from USA (205,100 chips), Vladimir Geshkenbein from Russia (201,600 chips) with average chip stack for Day 2 of 68,000.
