After a full day of play at the BC Poker Championships at the River Rock Casino in Richmond BC, 311 players remain from the initial pool of just under 560. The turnout proved to be so strong that players started day 1 with 52 11-handed tables filling the theater in its entirety.
The impressively large field came in spite of the Thanksgiving weekend. It has led to a largely Canadian-dominated field, however, as many American players were not in attendance, instead choosing to spend the weekend with their families.
Some notable Canadian players that are in attendance and still in the field include WSOP November Nine contender and BC local Matt Jarvis as well as poker pros Brad Booth, Gavin Smith and the lovely Kara Scott who is part of “Team Party”.
After 7 levels of play, blinds find themselves up to $300 – $600 which should force some more aggressive play and lead to some players doubling up early while others busting out quickly.
There is still a way’s to go before we will be able to start reporting players being on the bubble as only the top 54 will be bringing home some hard earned cash. For all the players that are unsure of the exact payout scales, this is what it looks like:
