Two men with the exact same name were entered into a casino Summer Giveaway sweepstakes promotion at the Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati, Ohio. The draw that took place this weekend and the casino called the name of Kevin Lewis for the $1 Million dollar prize. But the wrong Kevin Lewis was on the property at the time of the announcement and he collected the big check.
Upon final verification for the payment, the casino management discovered a second Cincinnati resident with the same name was the true winner of the drawing.
The casino decided to pay both men $1 Million including the accidental millionaire.
“We felt like it was the right thing to do to pay both individuals because the actual first person that was on property was the incorrect person and he came forward so we actually had to notify the true winner and he actually came in from outside property to the property and claim his winnings,” Vice President of Human Resources Lisa Rexroat-Steele said.
“This was our blunder,” said Kevin Kline, the senior vice president and general manager of the casino. “So, consistent with our commitment to do the right thing for our guests, Horseshoe awarded a $1 million prize to each of the men.”
Kudos to the Horseshoe casino for doing the right thing.
