The World Cup of Cards (WCC) is coming to Playground Poker Club August 18 to September 14. The 38 event festival boasts a guarantee of $2,000,000 featuring events from four major tours and backed by major sponsors; partypoker.com and TonyBet.
Kicking off the festival is a $600 World Poker Tour (WPT) National Montreal No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) tournament with seven starting flights and a $400,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1s will run from 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18 to Tuesday August 23with Day 2 beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24.
Also beginning on opening day is the NL Holdem Quantum event. A very unique event running the whole length of the series, players will have ample opportunity to qualify and if they fail, they can buy in to Day 2 directly. The $200,000 guaranteed event has 12 qualifying sessions across the month-long festival ranging from $170-$550. Players do have the option to buy in to Day 2 at a price of $2,200.
All-Stars for Starlight will be back raising money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Running from August 26-28, the $150 event has no rake with $25 from every entry going straight to the foundation. Former NHL great Larry Robinson will be in attendance for the $100,000 guaranteed event. Players will have four chances to make Day 2 of the event having the option to re-enter each day to best their previous day’s chip stack.
The WCoC will see the inaugural partypoker.com Canadian Grand Prix Poker Tour. With a buy in of only $109 the event features a massive $500,000 prize pool. During the festival there will be eight starting flights live at Playground but players will also have the option of playing any of 20 online sessions via partypoker.com. Seating is capped at 560 players for Day 2 but provided there is room, players may also buy-in directly into Day 2 for$1,100 and receive a 200,000 starting stack.
The Players Poker Championship (PPC) will be hosting a great event during the festival as well. More like a satellite, the $330 NLHE tournament has a guarantee of $30,000 but furthermore, 20% of the prize pool is awarded to the top players in the event in the form of a $3,500 package to the PPC Aruba World Championship in November with a $500,000 guarantee. Don’t miss your shot starting Monday, September 5.
The final major event of the festival welcomes the Card Player Poker Tour (CPPT) to Kahnawake for the CPPT World Cup of Cards. Beginning Saturday, September 10 the event has a $1,650 buy-in with a guarantee of $400,000. There will be two starting flights with next-day re-entry. Playground will have eight satellites to the event running across the series.
