Battleship Match Team Gus Hansen (Full Tilt) vs. Team Daniel Negreanu (PokerStars)

The grudge match that was initiated via a series of exchanges in Twitterspace between Gus Hansen and Daniel Negreanu took place at the London EPT. It consisted of two team matchups between Team PokerStars Pro’s Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, plus Team Online’s Isaac Haxton, taking on Gus Hansen, Viktor Blom and Tom Dwan, otherwise known as The Professionals of Full Tilt.

In a twist and probably a first in the casino industry, the matches were played at the casino but on laptops on Full Tilt poker software. With the railbirds looking on both online and at the casino, it was definitely a first for everyone.

The format of the event was that each team member would be matched against another and they would play three heads up tables simultaneously. The first player to win two tables would, by necessity, win that match.

ElkY won the first two of his matches against Isildur, Haxton won the first two of his matches against Dwan, and then with the overall match already won, Negreanu came along and won the first two of his matches against Hansen. ElkY and Negreanu won the third match they played too, to clean sweep their opponents.

Negreanu tweeted: “I beat @GusHansen 3-0! Timed out twice with the nuts too! Team PokerStars SCOOPS all 3 winning 8 of 9 games! Woot!”
