The BCPC attracts an elite field of poker players and offers large prize pools. Daniel Negreanu is a past winner of the $2,500 buy-in main event and past events have seen Brad Booth, Gavin Smith and Isabelle Mercier. This year we can also expect to see November Niner and Canadian Open Poker Championship Heads-Up winner, Matt Jarvis who will be playing his first major tournament on home soil since the WSOP last week.
There are three events taking place, with buy-ins of $550, $1,100 and $2,700. The first event ($550 buy-in) has an estimated prize pool of approximately $225,000, the second event ($1,100 buy-in) prize pool is estimated at $500,000 and the Main Event carries a $1.8M estimated prize pool.
Overall, there are three events in this year’s BCPC starting on November 18. That day is Day 1A of a $500 buy in No Limit Hold’em event that has an estimated prize pool of $225,000. There is also a Day 1B and Day 1C on the following days before the remaining players unite for the final day on November 21. With only 250 players plus alternates allowed to enter each opening day, it is crucial to register early if you are looking to play in this event.
November 22 sees the $1,000 buy in, 2 day, No Limit Hold’em event kick off with $500,000 estimated for the prize pool and 500 players plus alternates allowed.
Finally, the main event kicks off on November 25, and is a 4 day, No Limit Hold’em event that is allowing 750 players plus alternates. It is a $2,500 entry fee (plus registration) and it is the one that most Canadians thrive to capture.
With quotes like “I would say this has been the best $2,500 buy-in even structure I’ve ever played” from Negreanu after his 2008 victory, the River Rock and the BCPC has gained a great reputation for providing a quality tournament format and top notch service, with the beautiful coast and Vancouver as a backdrop. The BCPC should be a tournament that every Canadian poker player should experience and aim at claiming.
The Team from CanadaPoker.com will be present at the event next week taking photos and doing interviews with poker players in attendance as well as posting updates. If you will be at the event, come back and visit our photo gallery.
Good Luck to everyone and see you there.
