The 10th Annual Western Canadian Poker Classic will continue it’s medium limit poker legacy at the Yellowhead Casino. Set to take place from April 29th-May 6th, things kick off with two super satellites to the $2,200 No Limit Hold’em on Sunday the 29th at 1:00 PM and Monday the 30th at 7:00 PM. Players receive 10,000 starting chips with 20 rounds for their entry of $220 + $25 and there is an optional $10 dealer add-on.
Next, on Tuesday May 1st at there is another super satellite at 7:00 PM, however, this time the top 10% receive seats into BOTH the $550 and $800 No Limit Hold’em events. Entry is $135 + $15 + $5, with 10,000 starting chips and 20 minute levels.
On Wednesday, May 2nd at 6:00 PM, the actual events get underway, starting with a $300 + $30 + $10. Players receive 12,000 in tournament chips, with 30 minute blind levels. First prize is usually in the 5 figures for this one; certainly worth playing for.
At 6:00 PM on Thursday the 3rd, the Yellowhead Casino will play host to the ever popular player buy-in range of $500 + $50 + $10. This No Limit Hold’em tournament starts players with 17,000 starting chips and 40 minute blind levels.
The big buy-ins get started on Friday the 4th at 2:00 PM, with a $2000 + $200 + $10 No Limit Hold’em. Generous starting stacks of 20,000 tournament chips, with 40 minute levels. Back in January, another $2,200 NLH tournament held in Edmonton by the same management team was won by Bashar Ramahi, who took home $50,000 for first place in the event. Expect to this go around’s prize-pool to be on par, or even better yet.
Saturday the 5th at 2:00 PM is the ”happy medium”, a $720 + $80 + $10 and the last of the straight No Limit Hold’em events. Players start with 17,000 chips and the tournament features 40 minute blind levels.
Last, but by far not least, is a new comer to the tournament series; on Sunday, May 6th things get bumped into the ”high” buy-in range, with a $5000 + $200 Mixed Pot Limit Omaha & No Limit Hold’em. Each one hour blind level will feature 30 minutes of each game and players will start with 25,000 in tournament chips. With plenty of notice, a strong number of PLO players in the Edmonton community and satellites running 4 nights a week to the event thought out April, expect a juicy prize-pool in this one.
Satellites to the $5,200 run 7:00 PM Mondays and Wednesdays at Casino Edmonton, at the same time Tuesdays and Thursdays at Casino Yellowhead.
All event entries (except satellites) have traditionally included players meals, championship trophy (and jewelry to the winners of the larger buy-ins); Casino Yellowhead goes the extra mile to keep it’s tournament players coming back. Single table satellites are also offered on demand until just before each event, be sure to ask the friendly staff for more details on any of the information above.
Cash games, even at the lower limits, feature some of the best deep stack action anywhere in Canada, starting at a $500 maximum buy-in for $1/$2 No Limit Hold’em and going up from there.
